Blue is the New White Podcast

Nov 13, 2020

Today I sit down with a wonderful person by the name of Bethany Locke. Beth is an apprentice powerline technician in Nova Scotia. She grew up in a mining town and a place where women in the trades are actually pretty common. In fact, unlike most of the people I talk to, Beth was actually presented with and educated on the skilled trades as a viable career option while she was still in high school.

With that knowledge she was able to determine that the trades were a good fit for her. After trying her hand at being an industrial electrician, she switched trades to powerline technician.

Beth loves the outdoors, working with her hands, and above all else, the sense of accomplishment and satisfaction that comes with providing people with the necessary resource of electricity.

Although she has had some challenges along the way, Beth is clear on her passions and has big aspirations to be successful and self sufficient using the trades as a catalyst to achieve that.

As always, this show is not monetized & we don’t run ads. We rely strictly on the word of mouth from our listeners to grow the show. So if you enjoy this episode, please take a moment to rate, review, and share. The future generations of tradespeople depend on it. On you! So thank you again and enjoy this episode of Blue is the New White with Bethany Locke.
