Today, we have a very special guest on the show. An incredible
person, teacher, and advocate of the skilled trades. Mr Kenneth Midgett, or “coach” as
he’s often referred to by his students, is a plumbing and heating
instructor at Lehigh Career & Technical Institute and the NAPHCC
plumbing instructor of the year for 2019. He is also a huge
supporter of women in the trades, which we get into a bit in this
episode.
He started off at 15 years old with a local residential plumbing
company. He then joined a mechanical company and before long was
heavily involved in management/operations. His entrepreneurial
spirit eventually got the best of him and he started his own new
construction company. After being successful with that, he sought a
new challenge and started a service & repair company. And after
coaching kids soccer he found his passion with teaching. Despite
lacking a college career of any kind, Ken applied for a teaching
position and now shows America’s youth the opportunities available
in this wonderful career path.
